Smart Software Recognized as a Top 100 Company by Two Supply Chain Publications

Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Inbound Logistics Choose Smart Software for Top 100 Lists

Belmont, Mass., August 11, 2009 --Smart Software, Inc., provider of industry-leading demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization solutions, today announced that two supply chain industry publications, Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Inbound Logistics, have chosen the company to be on their "Top 100" lists for the fourth and fifth years, respectively.  The listings recognize Smart Software as a leader in its industry domain, and highlight the company's strengths in technical innovation and the ability to meet customers' needs.

For the fourth time, Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine chose Smart Software for its eighth-annual "Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100" in its June/July 2009 issue.  This year the magazine focused the criteria for its "100" feature on economic recovery.

According to Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive, "The judging committee looked for solutions across a variety of industries, addressing the needs of companies of varying sizes, and assisting in the transformation of a diverse mix of the functions that make up the supply chain."  In addition, the magazine cited that, "the companies chosen are leading providers of supply chain services and technologies who are helping their customers and clients both respond to the [economic] downturn and, more importantly, position themselves for growth ahead."

As part of the evaluation process, Smart Software cited four ways in which it helps its customers weather the current downturn and position themselves strongly for the recovery, including prioritizing product service levels; improving short-term forecast accuracy; successfully managing hard-to-forecast items; and increasing cash flows by optimizing inventory.  In addition, Smart reported how three customers benefited from the use of SmartForecasts®, its demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization system, in accomplishing those goals.

In the April 2009 issue of Inbound Logistics magazine, Smart Software was also chosen for the fifth time, from more than 300 companies, as a "Top 100 Logistics IT Provider".  The "Top 100" is listed on the Inbound Logistics website as part of its LIT Decision Support Tool, where readers can enter their logistics IT requirements and see which solution providers are best suited to their needs.

"Solutions providers such as Smart Software empower logistics and supply chain management by continuing to offer innovative and practical solutions in the face of demand volatility," said Felicia Stratton, editor at Inbound Logistics.  "2009 continues to be a year where every opportunity and efficiency must be seized and Smart Software consistently provides the kinds of technology solutions business logistics managers need to successfully manage their global enterprises."

"This year, both of these well-respected publications have put an emphasis on honoring companies that provide solutions which help their customers improve their supply chain planning in these tough economic times," said Charles Smart, president and CEO of Smart Software.  "We're very pleased that they've recognized our commitment to help our customers stay ahead and prosper in unusually difficult times."
