Charles Smart Chosen for the Third Time as a "Pro to Know" by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine

Belmont, Mass., March 17, 2008 - For the third year in a row, Charles N. Smart, president and CEO of Smart Software, Inc. has been recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine in its listing of "2008 Provider Pros to Know" in the February/March 2008 issue.  This well-respected publication's annual listing names Mr. Smart as a member of a select group of individuals, one of six technology providers in the "Demand Planning & Forecasting" category, to be chosen for this recognition.  Smart Software is a leader in demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization solutions.

The Supply & Demand Chain Executive Provider Pros to Know is a listing of individuals from a software firm or service provider, consultancy, or research firm who were selected based on their vision for a "21st century supply chain" and the role of technology in enabling the 21st century economy.  In addition, they were evaluated on how well they have personally helped clients implement technology or new processes to modernize their supply chains, as well as the results these clients achieved.

According to Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive, "This year's Provider Pros to Know have shown themselves to be thought-leaders in their respective supply chain segments.  Their efforts in developing the tools and processes necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, are helping raise Supply Chain's status within the enterprise and have earned them a place on this year's Provider Pros listing."

"Technology will be critical for dealing with supply chain challenges in the 21st century economy," said Charles Smart, president and CEO of Smart Software.  "Manufacturing and distribution companies must be able to react swiftly to the many factors affecting their supply chains.  The role of technology vendors will be to enhance their customers' ability to do that by helping them generate necessary business intelligence quickly and automatically.  In addition, these vendors will have to address the problems involved in successfully integrating their solutions with a variety of other disparate systems and data models."

Mr. Smart, a co-founder of Smart Software, has managed the company's growing role in developing innovative solutions to supply chain challenges for more than two decades.  He has written numerous articles for professional and trade publications, and frequently speaks to industry groups about effectively using demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization solutions to reduce costs, improve customer service, and make better use of company assets.
