Charles Smart Chosen as a "Pro to Know" by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine

Belmont, Mass., March 16, 2007 -- For the second year in a row, Charles N. Smart, president and CEO of Smart Software, Inc., has been recognized by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine in its listing of "Provider Pros to Know in 2007".  This well-respected publication's annual listing names Mr. Smart as a member of a select group of individuals, one of four technology providers in the "Demand Management/ Forecasting and Planning" category, to be chosen for this recognition.  Smart Software is a leader in demand forecasting, demand planning, and inventory optimization solutions.

"This year's Provider Pros to Know have shown themselves to be thought-leaders in their respective supply chain segments," said Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive.  "Their efforts in developing the tools and processes necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, are helping raise Supply Chain's status within the enterprise and have earned them a place on this year's Provider Pros listing."

Mr. Smart, a co-founder of Smart Software, has managed the company's growing role in developing innovative solutions to supply chain challenges for more than two decades.  He has written numerous articles for professional and trade publications, and frequently speaks to industry groups about effectively using demand forecasting, planning, and inventory optimization solutions to reduce costs, improve customer service, and make better use of company assets.

According to Supply & Demand Chain Executive, solution provider executives chosen as Provider Pros to Know have made significant contributions in promoting Supply Chain as a strategic function within the enterprise.  They also provide key enabling tools that supply and demand chain professionals can leverage to achieve the kind of bottom-line results that get the supply chain process noticed in the boardroom.

"The strategic role of the supply chain is becoming progressively more important because of the influence of our global economy," according to Charles Smart.  "Regardless of a customer's location, a company needs to have the right product in the right place at the right time.  Achieving this objective has become more challenging because increasing globalization has meant that supply chains have become more complex.  Today's enterprise needs to react swiftly to a multitude of factors affecting its supply chain, and the technology we provide helps to increase an organization's ability to do that."
