Smart Software Demos SmartForecasts' Enhanced Inventory Optimization Tools and New Collaborative Planning Product at APICS 2004

San Diego, California, October 10, 2004 - Smart Software, Inc. is showcasing its flagship product, SmartForecasts, with enhanced inventory optimization capabilities as well as its new collaborative forecasting and planning product, SmartWeb Collaborator, at this week's APICS International Conference & Exposition in San Diego. Smart, a leading supplier of enterprise demand forecasting, planning and inventory optimization solutions will be exhibiting in Booth #512.

The latest version of SmartForecasts Enterprise, Version 6, boasts nearly 100 percent accuracy estimating optimal inventory stocking requirements for any lead time and desired service level. New management reports provide the information needed to make critical inventory and safety stock decisions, even for hard-to-forecast products with intermittent, or slow-moving, demand. This version also offers new collaborative forecasting options that let you review, modify and save multiple forecast scenarios for any group of items and help develop a consensus forecasting solution. Additional management reports help assess the success of forecasting projects, including crucial "forecasts vs. actuals" performance analyses.

A recent study published in the International Journal of Forecasting found that Smart Software's pioneering, patented, and APICS award-winning Intermittent Demand Forecasting technology is the most accurate method available today to forecast hard-to-forecast products. This unique technology, available in SmartForecasts Enterprise, is being adopted in numerous industries that experience intermittent demand, especially in the automotive aftermarket and capital goods sectors.
